Le Roman de Renard – Ladislav & Irène Starevitch, FR 1941

 - Virtuoso stop-motion pioneer Starevitch’s only feature. The clever, cunning fox of folklore legend, summoned to court for his crimes, enjoys exploiting the animal courtiers’ amorous and power-play intrigues. Funny, fantastical, with a remarkably detailed range of facial expression and movement, and a tour-de-force epic battle scene finale.

 - Einziger Langfilm des virtuosen Stop-Motion-Pioniers Starevitch. Der clevere und listige Fuchs aus der folkloristischen Legende nutzt gern die amourösen Intrigen und Machtspielchen der tierischen Höflinge aus. Nun muss er vor Gericht erscheinen. Witzig, fantasievoll, mit einer bemerkenswert detail- reichen Palette an Gesichtsausdruck und Mienenspiel – mit einem heldenhaften Schlachten-Showdown, der eine wahre Meisterleistung ist.
